Schenectady, NY – Work long under way is about to bear fruit with the launch of Proctors first annual Animation Festival.  The weeklong run, aptly subtitled Tons of Toons, will take place between July 10 – 16 in Proctors GE Theatre with its eye-popping giant screen.
 
Capital Region resident and former GE marketing executive Richard Huether recently donated a state-of-the-art projector to the GE Theatre at Proctors.  “It is clear that Proctors is no longer just about the stage,” he says.  “I'm convinced that the GE Theatre’s giant screen -- coupled with the capabilities of the new projector – help to create the impact that people expect and want from a leading entertainment complex.”
 
Affordable ticket prices -- $3 for individual films; $15 for Animation Movie Pass (Week Pass for One Patron - some restrictions apply) also are expected to attract individuals and families for an air-cooled outing to the Capital Region’s premier arts and entertainment complex.
 
The Animation Festival at Proctors promises something for everyone among the wide variety of animated features -- from family friendly films like Charlotte's Web and Happy Feet to more mature films like Beavis and Butt-head and Fritz the Cat.
 
There are as many different films as there are different types of animation; the Fleischer Brothers' rotoscoping technique of Gulliver's Travels, the live action/animation of Space Jam, the puppet animation of Coraline, the claymation of Wallace & Gromit and plenty of traditional and computer animation.
