TITLE: Part-time Grant Writer
DEPARTMENT: Relationships

JOB SUMMARY: The Grant Writer for Proctors and Capital Rep is critical to the fundraising efforts for these two regional arts organizations, which function under a management agreement. The Grant Writer focuses on foundation, corporate, municipal, state and federal grant opportunities under $25,000 to identify and secure grant funding for various theatre initiatives. Developing an in-depth knowledge of each organization’s activities and needs is crucial to research potential funding opportunities. The two Theatres are seeking an experienced writer who can tell the story of each of these arts organizations in a compelling way, to highlight the organization’s accomplishments, as well as the existing needs addressed in the community.

JOB DUTIES: (include but are not limited to the following) Write and submit grant proposals and applications to foundation, corporate, and governmental sources of support. Investigate various grant application processes, establish a network of grant prospects, research the history and focus areas of grants at corporations and foundations.  Assist in monitoring progress towards goals and objectives agreed upon in contracts with funding sources. Continuously identify new funding sources. Oversee grant tracking for both organizations and evaluation processes to ensure compliance with funders’ requirements. Plus other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelors Degree required. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in grant writing.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal foundations, key arts funders and familiarity with theatre and arts proposal writing.
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. Strong editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills and an ability to work with all levels of administration required.
  • Attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
  • Flexible hours and work schedule.
