Proctors CAST program pairs youth (Grade 9 and up) with Proctors volunteers to give them an in depth and entertaining learning experience about how our volunteers make the show go on! CAST members participate in a training session and volunteer during at several performances in Proctors' season.
Training: CAST members participate in a two-hour training session in the fall. Participants will meet members of Proctors staff, learn about the role of the House Manager, Production Manager, stage crew and more. They will go on a backstage tour of the Theatre to learn about its history, what happens to prepare for and during performances. They will meet some of Proctors key volunteers, learn about the various volunteer positions at Proctors and learn about what they will be doing on show nights.
Performance Night: CAST volunteers are responsible for scanning tickets at the doors for our MainStage live performances. Students may then stay and watch the performance or are permitted to leave following scanning.
Parental/Guardian Involvement: It is our goal to keep parents informed of assignments and schedule changes. Therefore, a parent or guardian must accompany the CAST student to the annual meeting at the beginning of each season. Parents/Guardians are also expected to pick their student up at the pre-arranged time and must come inside the building to get their student. Alternatively, there is a waiver that can be signed allowing the student to leave the premises without a parent/guardian. Additional information will be provided at the pre-season meeting.
