Glenn Close stars as Joan, a woman who begins to question her life choices as she travels to Stockholm with her husband (Johnathan Pryce), who is slated to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. She and Joe have remained perfect complements throughout nearly 40 years of marriage. Where Joe is casual, Joan is elegant. Where Joe is vain, Joan is self-effacing. And where Joe enjoys his very public role as the great American novelist, Joan pours her considerable intellect, poise and diplomacy into the private role of a being a great man’s wife. But, as Joe is about to be awarded the Nobel for his acclaimed and prolific body of work, Joan starts to think about the shared compromises, secrets and betrayals. Also with Christian Slater and Elizabeth McGovern. Rated R for language and some sexual content. 100 minutes.
