This Summer the GE Theatre at Proctors, working with Emerging Pictures, in a regional exclusive, proudly brings back select Operas from the La Scala Opera Series. These will be presented in digital high definition broadcast on the enormous iwerks screen. The operas have been recorded live in gorgeous HDTV format with Dolby Digital sound that takes full advantage of the state of the art equipment and facilities at Proctors.
Particularly worth noting in the cast is the debut at La Scala of Angela Gheorghiu in the role of Violetta, a debut anticipated by her 2006 recital. Elena Mosuc and Irina Lungu take turns in the remaining performances. Ramón Vargas, Jonas Kaufmann and Massimo Giordano are the tree Alfredos. Roberto Frontali, Leo Nucci (for two dates) and George Gagnidze sing the role of Germont.
