Free Public Tour

Saturday, February 2, 2008

A free public walking tour of Proctors new performing arts complex is scheduled for SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2008 FROM 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM. The tour includes: Proctors mainstage with it’s new stage-house, now three times larger than the original stage, and a visit to the new star dressing rooms; Proctors new theatre, the GE Theatre with the iwerks extreme screen, with retractable theater seating for 434 people; the atrium and the new conference spaces.

Tours of the historic restored 1926-vaudeville palace and the two new theatres are given approximately once a month by trained volunteers. These tours offer an informal glimpse of the entire facility, including the new Proctors Guild Room, Proctors Museum and the district heat plant. Proctors famous Wurlitzer Theatre Organ, “Goldie,” will be played and will demonstrate the varieties of sounds used during the silent movies. The tour will last approximately 2 ½ hours.

Participants are requested to meet in front of the theatre doors in the Arcade.

Private tours for groups of fifteen or more can be arranged by calling Proctors Business Office at (518) 382-3884.
