Dangerous Music - LEMUR

Saturday, April 5, 2008

What could be Dangerous about Music? Everything, really. How it is played or sung, who it is played or sung with, what it is about and what stories it intertwines. Proctors DANGEROUS MUSIC Project, supported in part by the New York State Music Fund, is designed to cultivate a new audience for innovative music. Intergrally tied to Proctors Education Program, F'loom, has been commissioned to produce new work, work in residence in the community with community presentations and school based workshops and, finally, perform a full concert for the community in the GE Theatre.

The concert series comes to a close this season with the final perfomance from League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots (LEMUR) presents
Music by Robots and Humans

An evening of live performances featuring LEMUR's robotic musical instruments, with special guests Michael Lowenstern, bass clarinet, and Ben Neill, mutant trumpet

LEMUR: League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots is a Brooklyn-based group of artists and Technologists who create robotic musical
instruments. Founded in 2000 by musician and engineer Eric Singer, LEMUR creates exotic, sculptural musical instruments which integrate robotic technology. LEMUR's philosophy is to build robots that are new types of musical instruments, as opposed to animatronic robots that play existing
instruments.

LEMUR's growing ensemble includes over 50 robotic instruments, including GuitarBot, ModBots, XyloBots, HydroBots and others.
