Literature to Life Series
Presented by the American Place Theatre, Literature to Life is a performance - based literacy program that presents verbatim adaptations of significant American literature. With the intimate seating in our GE Theatre and discussions before and after the production, the Literature to Life series allows students to access literature in a whole new way.
Based on the novel written during the Cold War, this performance depicts a startling dystopian future where critical thought through reading is banned. In this hectic new world, firefighters don’t put out fires but start them to burn books. It is a cautionary tale that supports books and reading as the keystone to intellectual freedom, but the question is who will fight for books in this bleak future?
