LAUGHTER AND REFLECTION WITH CAROL BURNETT:
A Conversation with Carol where the Audience Asks the Questions
If there is one thing this renowned six-time Emmy Award entertainer can do better than anyone else, it’s talk at length, impromptu, before a live audience.Laughter and Reflection, Carol's "off-the-cuff" banter with the audience, is a format that grew out of the question-and-answer sessions she shared with her studio audience on each episode of The Carol Burnett Show. "I love the spontaneity of these evenings,” said Carol. “I never know what anyone is going to ask, or say, or do, so it keeps me on my toes!” Come with your questions for what promises to be an hilarious evening.
One of North America’s most beloved and versatile entertainers, Burnett is widely recognized for her comedic and musical talents, as well as her dramatic abilities. Since her 11-year run on the critically acclaimed variety program, The Carol Burnett Show, she has moved easily from television to the stage to feature films, variety specials, musicals and comedy. Americans fondly consider Burnett a true living legend in entertainment, having bestowed more People's Choice Awards upon her than any other woman in the award show's history. In 2003 she was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors and in 2005 received The Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Raised by her grandmother, first in her birthplace of San Antonio, then Hollywood, Ms. Burnett attended UCLA. Soon after, she started her career in New York, where she caught fire doing hilarious sketches on The Garry Moore Show. At night, she dashed to the theatre where she starred in the riotous fairy tale Once Upon a Mattress. She moved back to Los Angeles and began The Carol Burnett Show which ran for 276 episodes on CBS from 1967 to 1978. Her show is generally regarded as the last successful major network variety show and continues to have success on DVD.
Since then, Carol Burnett has guest-starred on smash hit television shows such as Mad About You, Desperate Housewives, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and she will next co-star with Michael Keaton in this summer's upcoming Fox Searchlight Pictures feature, The Post Grad Survival Guide.
