Schenectady Light Opera Company (SLOC) present “13”, a regional production of the popular Broadway musical. With lyrics and music by Jason Robert Brown, the upbeat show has become popular with teenagers and families across the country. The musical portrays the life of 13 year old Evan Goldman as he moves from New York City to Appleton, Indiana. It premiered in 2007 in Los Angeles and moved to Broadway on September 16, 2008. SLOC’s production has cast teenagers from the Capital Region and beyond in a show that is sure to heat up the winter recess weekend. Directed and Choreographed by Joseph Fava
Musical Directors Olga Martinez and Lisa Franklin
Special Choreography by Joey Hunziker
Produced by Michael Gatzendorfer and Jane Figueroa
The musical is the first in a “Renovation Series” of special events raising funds for Schenectady Light Opera Company and their new downtown performing arts center. The nonprofit theater company recently announced the purchase of the former St. John the Baptist Church property and plans for a 25,000+ square foot complex that will complement Proctors, the Bow Tie Cinema and other arts and entertainment venues within downtown Schenectady.
