"A MUSICAL HERO" - Wall Street Journal
Legendary Scottish songwriter, storyteller, guitarist, fiddler and magical performer, MacLean has for many years led an evolution of Scottish music and song. One of Scotland's most gifted and successful contemporary singer-songwriters, his innovative work has created a modern interpretation of Celtic music, while remaining firmly rooted in ancient Scots culture.
From his home base in Butterstone near Dunkeld in the beautiful Tay Valley, Perthshire, Scotland, MacLean tours the world with his unique blend of lyrical, roots-based songwriting and instrumentals. His moving song Caledonia and melody The Gael (adapted for the main theme in The Last of the Mohicans) have been recorded by hundreds of artists and enjoyed by millions worldwide.
Now he adds to a long list of honors: BBC coverage of the 2011 ceremony making him an 'Officer of the Order of The British Empire.' It's a pleasure to welcome him back to The Eighth Step for a rare U.S. appearance.
