Undeniably the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman holds a superstar status seldom afforded to a classical musician.
As a result of his charm, talent and humanity, Perlman is beloved and treasured by audiences around the world. The 4 time Emmy® and 15 time Grammy® award winning musician and conductor will be bringing his talents to the Mainstage for a stellar Capital Region performance.
Aside from being a world-renowned musician and conductor, Perlman devotes a considerable amount of time to education, both in his participation each summer in the Perlman Music Program and his teaching at the Juilliard School, where he holds the Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation Chair.
He has toured the world and conducted for such orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic and the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
He performed at the 2006 Academy Awards and at the Juilliard School Centennial gala, as well as at the Inauguration for President Barack Obama in 2009. In May 2007, he performed at the State Dinner for Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, hosted by President George W. Bush and Mrs. Bush at the White House.
