Witness the dawn of the American gore film with two of HG Lewis’ groundbreaking splatter epics!

In 1963, director Herschell Gordon Lewis forever changed the horror film landscape by replacing the traditional thimbles of horror movie blood with torrents of gushing gore. His films were hits, and fake blood manufacturers have been operating at capacity ever since. ICFS is proud to present Lewis’ first two very low-budget, campy, goretastic breakthrough films, uncensored on our GIANT screen!

In Blood Feast (Lewis’ 1963 breakthrough film), a doting mother makes the worst catering decision in history by hiring Egypt aficionado Fuad Ramses to cater her daughters wedding. Fuad in turn sets out to produce a “blood feast” featuring various dismembered body parts in order to honor the goddess Ishtar. Murder, graphic gore and high camp ensue.

In 1964, Lewis followed up his gore-met feast with a blood-and-guts version of Brigadoon (what else?) entitled Two Thousand Maniacs! The sleepy southern berg of Pleasant Valley celebrates its centennial by luring in six clueless Yankees and forcing them to participate in sick games that lead to grizzly death. “An Entire Town Bathed In Pulsing Human Blood! Madmen Crazed For Carnage,” screams the tagline. It does not exaggerate.

Leave the kids at home and BYOBB (Bring Your Own Barf Bag) for this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience! Blood Feast and Two Thousand Maniacs! will make your eyes bleed and your stomach spin. You’ll laugh ‘til you puke. Don’t miss it!

British composer Benjamin Britten described his opera Peter Grimes as “…a subject very close to my heart, the struggle of the individual against the masses. The more vicious the society, the more vicious the individual.”

Set in a drab fishing village, Peter Grimes tells the story of a man accused by his neighbors of committing unspeakable crimes, and the question of whether those accusations and their consequences are just.

Britten’s incredible score includes the Four Sea Interludes, instrumental music between scenes that perfectly expresses the mystery and pain at the heart of this opera.

Starring John Graham-Hall, Susan Gritton, Christopher Purves and Felicity Palmer, with conductor Robin Ticciati in his debut at La Scala.

The complete 1925 version, newly restored Chaplin silent masterpiece with a newly recorded orchestral score!

The Gold Rush is the quintessential Chaplin/Little Tramp film, with a balance of slapstick comedy and pantomime, social satire, and emotional and dramatic moments of tenderness. It was Chaplin's own personal favorite film, that showcases the classic Tramp character as a romantic idealist and lone gold prospector at the turn of the century, with his cane, derby, distinctive walk, tight shabby suit, and mustache.

Classic scenes include the starvation scene of two cabin-marooned prospectors boiling and fastidiously eating a stewed shoe, the Tramp's cabin-mate deliriously imagining his companion as a large chicken, the teetering cabin on the edge of a cliff, and Chaplin's lonely fantasized New Year's Eve party (with the dancing dinner rolls routine) when he waits for a girl who never comes.

In his exhilarating Oscar Nominated-Best Documentary film, German master Wim Wenders (Wings of Desire, The Buena Vista Social Club) captures the brilliantly inventive dance world of legendary choreographer Pina Bausch.

Wenders had conceived with Bausch a dance film like none seen before, one which would put the viewer deep inside Bausch’s playful, thrillingly unpredictable pieces. After her untimely death in 2009, Wenders continued with the project, turning it into the most exciting tribute he could imagine.

Sensual and visually stunning, Pina takes the audience into Bausch’s work in her imaginative sets (a gliding monorail, a bare stage covered with chairs, a towering man-made waterfall) and powerfully rendering the beauty and sheer physicality of the dances and dancers of her Tanztheater Wuppertal ensemble.

From acclaimed director Agnieszka Holland, In Darkness is based on a true story.

Leopold Socha, a sewer worker and petty thief in Lvov, a Nazi occupied city in Poland, one day encounters a group of Jews trying to escape the liquidation of the ghetto. He hides them for money in the labyrinth of the town’s sewers beneath the bustling activity of the city above.

What starts out as a straightforward and cynical business arrangement turns into something very unexpected, the unlikely alliance between Socha and the Jews as the enterprise seeps deeper into Socha’s conscience.

The film is also an extraordinary story of survival as these men, women and children all try to outwit certain death during 14 months of ever increasing and intense danger.

In Polish, German, Yiddish and Ukrainian with English subtitles.

This three-act ballet featuring Glazunov's glorious score tells the story of Raymonda, the niece of a French countess and betrothed to the knight Jean de Brienne. Separated by Jean's commitment to aid King Andrei II in medieval times, another suitor is so dazzled by Raymonda's beauty that he attempts to abduct her.

Filled with color, grand effects, and a rousing duel, Raymonda features choreography by Yuri Grigorovich, broadcast from the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow.
