Our Mission: Through arts and community leadership be a catalyst for excellence in education, sustainable economic development and rich civic engagement to enhance the quality of life in the greater capital region.
A letter from Philip Morris (CEO)
Through our education programs, we work annually with close to 60,000 school children: many come to Proctors for shows or to our newly developed Summer School for The Performing Arts; others are served in their schools though our Open Eye Media programs, which integrate English and Social Studies with hands-on media learning and activities.
In addition, our doors are open almost all day, every day of the year for meetings, workshops, graduations, recitals, the Winter Greenmarket and public gatherings of every kind. It is no wonder that we are often referred to as our community’s living room.
Our technological expertise reaches beyond the floodlights and rigging of the stage. Proctors operates and programs three local public access stations via Open Stage Media, producing one television station aimed at local government, one focused on arts and education and one open to the public at large, viewed by tens of thousands.
If you haven’t visited our versatile GE Theatre, please take the opportunity to catch a movie on its spectacular GIANT screen, attend a community event, take in a music performance or enjoy a small off-Broadway show!
So you see, 250,000 playbills in 250,000 hands are just one part of the Proctors community, a community that is over half a million strong. To reach the hearts and minds of the unseen part of our family, and to help our philanthropic support of the entire community, please consider participating in our fundraising events and annual membership efforts. Together, we can engage, entertain, educate and connect with the entire population of the Capital Region.
