SINGS AND PLAYS SLIDE-DRIVEN COUNTRY BLUES WITH A PASSION AND AUTHORITY THAT FEW ARTISTS OF ANY AGE CAN MUSTER. BUT BESIDES FIRING OFF COMPELLING COVERS OF TRADITIONAL TUNES. . . HIS ORIGINAL SONGS HAVE SERVED TO UPDATE AND EVOLVE THE IDIOM…" - Washington Post
Jacobs-Strain is a wailing slide guitarist and contemporary roots singer-songwriter whose musical journey begins in the wellspring of Delta blues but ranges far afield from there. In his mid-twenties, he already channels age-old wisdom and heartache with such dexterity, energy, and passion that you feel good, even about feeling bad.
Audiences love his energy, fun, and his jaw-dropping performance.
His numerous festival credits include Strawberry Music Festival, SummerFest, MerleFest, Lugano Blues to Bop Festival (Switzerland), Newport Folk Festival and Montreal Jazz Festival. He teaches guitar workshops, most notably at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch. In 2008 and again in 2010 Boz Scaggs chose him to open for his summer tour; this past summer he captivated crowds at New Bedford’s SummerFest.
"A FIERY PASSION THAT'S EXCITING AND ENGAGING, TEMPERED WITH AN AESTHETIC REMINISCENT OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. DON'T BE FOOLED BY HIS YOUTH; JACOBS-STRAIN KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING" - Dirty Linen
