
With this concert Yutaka Sado makes his Philharmonic debut. Critics have unanimously hailed Sado as one of the most enthralling and charismatic conductors of the new generation.
Long-time assistant of Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa, Sado has captured several of the most prestigious international conductor's prizes.
The program consists of, "From me flows what you call time," a perfect blend of East and West by Japan's most enduring composer Toru Takemitsu, and Dmitri Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony, which so successfully blended the demands of the Soviet authorities of the time with the oppressed public's need for an emotional outlet.
