ICFS presents films from the American Genre Film Archive
Mario Bava’s BLOOD AND BLACK LACE (Newly Restored!)
It Came From Schenectady and the American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) have teamed up to bring the Capitol Region an exquisite series of famed films for adventurous moviegoers. And we can think of no better way to kick the series off than with the film credited with not only creating an entire European genre (the Giallo), but also with serving as inspiration for Halloween, Friday the 13th and other popular American slashers! Prior to BLOOD AND BLACK LACE, horror films and thrillers were thought best shot in the shadows, but Bava proved that vibrant technicolor could be equally as effective in skillful, artistic hands… a lesson Dario Argento also later put to famously good use. The story is simple. A man with a metal-claw glove and a featureless mask stalks beautiful high fashion models at a prestigious salon in Rome. Bava effectively makes voyeurs of the audience, or worse, puts us behind the mask. Cameron Mitchell and Eva Bartok star. Not rated. 88 minutes. As with other ICFS events, expect prizes, surprises, comfy couches and delirious drink specials!
