Discover Arts: Caravaggio

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

Journey through the life, works and struggles of Michelangelo Merisi da. Caravaggio. His existence, no less than his art, was characterized by light and shadow, contrasts and contradictions, genius and sobriety. A revolutionary artist, he was often not so beloved by his contemporaries. In search of luck – or perhaps in search of himself – he travelled Milan, Venice, Rome, and Sicily, escaping the enemies and demons he found at every turn, giving shape to masterpieces such as Bacchus, Boy with a Basket of Fruit, Saint Catherine, Judith Beheading Holofernes, and David with the Head of Goliath. Featuring a previously unseen reconstruction of the original location of the Madonna dei Palafrenieri, thanks to Vatican approval. Not Rated. 90 minutes.
