Doo Wop Rock & Roll Spectacular

Sunday, November 12, 2023

An incredible seven act Golden Oldies Spectacular comes to Proctors Sunday, November 12 at 3:00 pm starring:

THE HAPPENINGS:  Original lead singer Bob Miranda continues to possess the vocal prowess to bring audiences to their feet.  “See You in September” was a #1 hit worldwide and is still one of the top 100 “summer songs” of all time.  “Go Away Little Girl,” “I Got Rhythm” and “My Mammy” were all million selling gold records.   The  “Proud to be an American” tribute to veterans will thrill the crowd.

JAY SIEGEL’S TOKENS:  Jay started his first band at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn in which Neil Sedaka was a bandmate.  Their first gold record was “Tonight I fell in Love.”  Their mega international #1 hit, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is the only song in pop history to re-enter the charts 33 years later and hit #1 again (fueled by its use in Disney’s “The Lion King” movie).   Jay and the Tokens also produced records by the Chiffons, The Happenings and Tony Orlando and Dawn (“He’s So Fine by the Chiffons was the first #1 hit by a vocal group produced by another vocal group).

THE BRONX WANDERERS:  In their only Proctors performance, they brought the house down and fans have asked for them to return ever since, but their casino residencies in Las Vegas, where they were performing six nights a week starting in 2016, made it impossible until now.  Successful producer, record label executive and publisher at Columbia Records, Vinny Adinofi was prodded by his Bronx friends Dion, Chaz Palminteri and Danny Aiello to start a rock and roll band featuring his musically-gifted 10 and 14 year old sons.  The rest is history, and they have now won twelve “Best of Las Vegas” awards.

BARBARA HARRIS AND THE TOYS’ mega hit, “Lover’s Concerto” reached #2 on the charts and sold two million copies.  They will also sing several hits by other “girl groups” of the sixties.

VITO PICONE & THE ELEGANTS:  “Little Star,” cowritten by Vito, sold three million copies worldwide and spent 19 weeks on the Billboard charts.  It received the “Million-Aires” award for airing over 1 million times on the radio.  Vito also made a cameo appearance in the Oscar winning movie “Goodfellas.”

KID KYLE appeared on American Idol Junior at  age 8 and performed at Proctors before he was a teenager.   He has been featured in PBS’s “My Music, Doo Wop Love Songs” and “Doo Wop Generations.”  Now age 28, he was inducted into the East Coast Music Hall of Fame and won “Best Male Singer” award.

VINNIE MEDUGNO:  A multi-talented young man, Vinnie is a WABC radio host, dance music performer and song writer and a high school teacher.  He performed on PBS’ “Doo Wop, Pop and Soul Generations.”
