A bored, unhappy suburban housewife gets mixed up in witchcraft and murder in Romero’s psychological drama.  Marketed alternately (and disingenuously) as both horror film and sexploitation, SEASON OF THE WITCH (aka HUNGRY WIVES; aka JACK’S WIFE) was Romero’s follow-up to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD – and while not what NOTLD fans are likely to expect – SEASON OF THE WITCH nicely demonstrates that Romero always had a bit more in mind than one might find on the surface.  “One of the things that always made George Romero’s zombies so potent was the way the director paralleled their behavior with the mechanical routines many people perform day to day in real life.  Although ostensibly a very different film, Season Of The Witch also explores the horror of such routines, this time from a feminist perspective.” – Eye For Film.  Rated R.  130 minutes.
