All are welcome to The first annual Kuumba Film Festival taking place at the historic Proctors Theatre in downtown Schenectady, NY on February 25 2023. The GE Theatre, within Proctors, boasts the largest projector screen in the northeast. We will have special presentations, speakers and engaging content from both established and up and coming creators.
Kuumba celebrates Black artists and showcases content made by and about people of African descent. Kuumba, which is Swahili, celebrates creativity.
All submissions to the Kuumba film festival require that key members of the film or content are of the African diaspora. You’ll be able to apply through filmfreeway.com. This includes but not limited to the writer, lead actor, director or producer. We decided to price all submissions $7 to encourage and not hinder those that wish to submit. Tickets to this event are only $11 and all profits go to continuing the mission of the Hamilton Hill Arts Center. www.hamiltonhillartscenter.org
