Terry Leonino [vocals, dulcimer, harmonica] and Greg Artzner [vocals & guitar] introduce their 45th Anniversary album, a richly eclectic collection of songs that span classic folk, Americana, social justice music, swing and blues. A Tiding showcases their remarkable musicianship and stunning close harmony singing on songs both originals and borrowed. They touch poignantly on important subjects, but cut loose on classic swing numbers for great fun along the way.
A Tiding includes songs by Tom Paxton, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, and their spot-on renditions of swing tunes by great ‘30s singers Billy Holliday, Connee Boswell and more. “Herminda de la Victoria” by Chilean poet Victor Sara is put to music by Magpie Then there’s “Back Bay,” Jean McAvoy’s atmospheric salute to the Virginia marshland habitat, and “I Call Them All Love Songs,” the duo’s loving tribute to friend and mentor Pete Seeger.
