The story of Tracy Edwards, a 24-year-old cook on charter boats who became the skipper of the first ever all-female crew to enter the famed and dangerous Whitbread Round the World Race in 1989. Male competitors scoffed, the chauvinistic yachting press took bets on her failure, and potential sponsors rejected her, fearing that she and her crew would die at sea and generate bad publicity. Though opposed on all sides, Edwards was blessed with tremendous self-belief. She also had a remarkable crew. With their help she went on to shock the sport world and prove women sailors to be every bit the equal of men. Rated PG for language, thematic elements, some suggestive content and brief smoking images. 97 minutes.
