Silent w/Live original score  performed by the ANDREW ALDEN ENSEMBLE

F.W. Murnau’s unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, is widely acknowledged a horror masterpiece, while also revered as one of the scariest Dracula adaptations ever made.

The mysterious Count Orlok summons Thomas Hutter, a real estate agent, to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. Upon arriving, Hutter learns that the eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house very near the home he shares with his beloved wife, Ellen.  A deal is sealed, but Orlok soon  reveals his vampire nature, and – realizing Ellen could be in grave danger – Hutter struggles to escape the castle, even as Orlok’s servant, Knock, makes preparations for his ever-thirsting Master to travel to his brand new home. Max Schreck, Gustav von Wangenheim, and Greta Schroeder star.

The ANDREW ALDEN ENSEMBLE returns to Proctors by ever popular demand, bringing with them an exciting new score to the iconic classic, a score that creatively compliments the dark horror of the film, while also magnifying its storytelling. Mixing the sensibilities of classical chamber music with the distinct edge of rock – on previous visits – the Ensemble has absolutely thrilled Proctors audiences with their original scores for Night of the Living Dead, The Lost World and Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages. Not Rated. 95 minutes.
