Sixties Spectacular

An incredible five act GOLDEN OLDIES SPECTACULAR graces the Proctors stage on Saturday, April 13, 2024, starring the return by popular demand of THE DOO WOP PROJECT.  They brought the house down in 2022 after their concert special was featured on WMHT .  Their vocal excellence is obvious in the group’s recreation of each song they sing among the greatest hits in pop and rock history.  The five Broadway stars come from smash hits like JERSEY BOYS and MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL.  The show traces the pop songbook from the doo wop sound of five guys singing tight street-corner harmonies to the hit sounds of Motown to the classic East-Coast pop royalty such as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and Dion, and they feature a great band backing them up.

Members of the Doo Wop Project include:

Dominic Nolfi; original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys, Motown; The Musical and A Bronx Tale

Charl Brown: Tony Award Nominee for his portrayal of Smokey Robinson in Motown The Musical.   Also performed in Jersey Boys, Sister Act and Hair.

Dwayne Cooper:  Motown the Musical, Hairspray, Smokey Joe’s Café

Russell Fischer:  Jersey Boys, Big: The Musical

John Michael Dias: Jersey Boys, Beautiful; the Carol King Musical

Sonny Paladino:  Musical director of Pippin, The Great Comet, The Last Ship, Billy Eliot, The Wanderer

Coheadlining the show is The Brooklyn Bridge.  Formed by combining the Crests’ lead singer, Johnny Maestro, the Del-Satins (Dion’s backup singers) and the horn players from the Rhythm Method, they had many hits in the late 1960’s, including “The Worst That Could Happen” (#3 on the charts), “Welcome me Love,” “Blessed is the Rain,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Your Husband, My Wife.”  The world lost the incomparable Johnny Maestro (“16 Candles,” “The Angels Listened In” and “Step by Step”) fifteen years  ago, but Joe Esposito in an amazing lead singer.  He performed “Lady, Lady, Lady” in the hit movie “Flashdance” and “You’re the Best” in “Karate Kid” and collaborated with Donna Summer on “Heaven Knows” and “Bad Girls.”

The Capris, featuring lead singer Michael d’Amore’s amazing multi-octave vocal range, will sing their smash hits “There’s a Moon out Tonight” and “Morse Code of Love,” which was a hit the second time around as well in 1984, sung by Manhattan Transfer.

Bobby Brooks Wilson, son of “Mr. Excitement” Jackie Wilson recreates the on-stage persona of his dad, Including their uncanny resemblance, voice and dance moves.  Bobby is a three-time Grammy Balloted Artist and has had 4 top 10 hits on the AC charts.  He always brings the crowd to their feet.

Opening the show direct from las Vegas is E’stefano DiSanto, winner of a “Best of Vegas” award in 2022.

There is a long tradition of great opening acts at Golden Oldies show, and the audience will love DiSanto.

Five great acts, one great night of timeless hits, transporting the audience back to a wonderful time of their lives.  Thanks for keeping the music alive!
