Film: The Rider

Friday, June 22, 2018 to Thursday, June 28, 2018

The leads in this miraculous film essentially play themselves in this fact-based tale of a young cowboy who’s promising future as a rodeo rider was suddenly jeopardized by a near fatal injury. At first, the film appears to be a cautionary tale about the dangers of the rodeo life, but what ultimately comes through is the deep love and respect these characters have for their horses, their lifestyle, and each other. Brady Jandreau plays Brady, and his scars are real. His developmentally-challenged sister, Lilly Jandreau, plays his sister Lilly. Plus, his dad plays his dad. Also notable is severely-disabled former bull-riding star Lane Scott co-starring as, well, severely-disabled former bull-riding star, Lane Scott.

Within the first minute of speaking to Brady, it became clear that he is still more cowboy than actor. He was direct, concise, and really excited to talk about the horse-related aspects of the film. There are several key scenes where actual horse training appears to take place, and Brady’s sixth sense with horses, something that is nearly impossible to fake, is quite evident.” – Horse Nation
