Released October 19, 1973, with scenes famously shot in both Schenectady (at Union College) and Ballston Spa, Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford play a couple who-despite a wonderful romance-fear their genuine friendship and physical attraction may not be enough to overcome a fundamental difference in their political and societal views.
 
Sydney Pollack directed this film between winning Academy Awards for “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?” and “Tootsie.” (He also won a Best Director Academy Award for “Out of Africa”.)
