Word Plays

Sunday, September 24, 2017 to Sunday, March 11, 2018

If you’re one of those people who linger in your car long after reaching a destination just to hear the end of The Moth Radio Hour, or Garrison Keillor’s “The News from Lake Wobegon” or Ira Glass on “This American Life,” then Word Plays may be for you.

At each Word Play, a different group of performers tell rarely heard contemporary and traditional stories celebrating the human spirit. You will discover that Word Plays is a shared experience between the audience and the performer, combining the intensity of a solo performer with the intimacy of a face-to-face conversation.

Each show has its own theme where each story told relates to that theme.

The Unknown — The Other | Sunday, January 21, 2018 • 2 p.m.

Revelations | Sunday, February 11, 2018  • 2 p.m.
Revelations change people’s lives. Come hear stories of the moments when people suddenly realize a whole new way of thinking or even the possibility of a whole new world.

Always | Sunday, March 11, 2018  • 2 p.m.
Irving Berlin’s love song “Always” is true for some, but not for others. And some people say, “It’s ALWAYS been like this. It’ll never change.” Come hear stories of people who found that always was or was not true for them, and of people who challenged the status quo. One of the Special Events associated with the Capital Rep production of “Blithe Spirit.”
